Niche specialty chemicals company, Perstorp, has made a bid to make
its mark on the cosmetics and personal care industry with the
introduction of a palette of intermediate materials - predominately
targeting the anti-aging and male grooming markets.

It will be the company's first venture into the industry, marketing its raw materials for use in superior cosmetics and personal care products worldwide. Perstorp has designed its portfolio of materials to enhance synthetic fragrances for the male consumer, and the anti-aging market - two of the most lucrative and expanding segments of the industry. Stating that the industry is set to continue expanding, with formulators and manufacturers continuing to customise solutions to cater for the increased demand for such products, the company is hoping to make lucrative partnerships with manufacturers in this industry. The materials are said to boost the desirability of active ingredients such as vitamins, antioxidants and functional products, and UV absorbers, multifunctional emollients, thickeners and polyurethane dispersions. Launched next month at In-Cosmetics 2007 in Paris, the materials palette is said to achieve desirable functions for cosmetic products, such as durability and substantivity, whilst also securing essential properties such as adhesion and gloss. Targeting the summer consumer, the company states that the materials also emphasis skin feel and waterproofing in end products such as sunscreen lotion, skin cream as well as shampoo, lip stick, nail polish and mascara. Perstorp Market Development Manager David James said, "Our portfolio is very large and attractive and we are confident that we offer the variety and quality of products necessary to become the preferred supplier to the leading brand owners in the cosmetics and personal care products market." The company will be amongst many manufacturers in the cosmetic and personal care industry showcasing new and innovative ideas at In-Cosmetics, using the raw materials and ingredients event as a platform to gain awareness from industry insiders.
