Southern Cosmetics hooks up with Naomi Judd
Cosmetics,is to supply skin care products by Naomi, a cosmetics
company endorsed by country and western singer Naomi Judd in an
effort to help boost sales.
Southern Cosmetics, which is based in Long Beach California and uses the internet to market and sell its beauty lines, will promote and distribute the Naomi brand, which will include anti-aging products,treatments to focus on improving outward appearance, health andself-image, and nutraceutical products directed at maintaining a healthier life style.
Catherine Basinger, CEO of Southern Cosmetics said that the deal would bring a boost to the company's product line, which has expanded significantly over recent years.
As the deal is still in the preliminary stages the final terms are being discussed and the companies said that thetransaction is expected to close within the next few weeks.
Naomi Judd launched herself into cosmetics three years ago, when she teamed up with her personal dermatologist Melvin Elson to create her line of skin care products. Since then the company has grown significantly, as had its product portfolio. In 2004 the company had a sales turnover of $9 million.
Naomi Judd has two daughters, Wynona and Ashley, who are also both renowned stage performers. And indeed, following in her mother's footsteps, Ashley Judd last year became the spokesperson and model for Estee Lauder's American Beauty line.
Star sponsorshop has long been associated with both cosmetic and fragrance products. Leading sponsorships include Britney Spear's Curious fragrance line by Elizabeth Arder, currently one of the leading fragrance brands, together with Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton who also both put their names to leading cosmetic and fragrance lines, through Coty and Parlux respectively.
