Yesterday, on September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle, aged 96, following more than 70 years as Head of State.
Her son, now King Charles III, issued this statement: “The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held.”
Beauty industry express condolences
Alongside many other businesses, corporations, associations and charities across the UK and worldwide, executive leaders in the beauty industry and leading brands and retailers took to social media yesterday and today to express their condolences on the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
The British Beauty Council said it was “deeply saddened” by the loss, noting the Queen “dedicated her life to the service of her country”.
The UK’s Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA), said: “We remember her with much fondness and thank her for her life of duty, service and example.”
The UK & Ireland arm of international beauty major L’Oréal said the company sent its “heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family for their loss”, noting the firm was grateful for Her Majesty’s years of service.
Personal care giant Unilever said: “We will remember the Queen with great affection and gratitude for her extraordinary dedication and service over the last 70 years.”
The UK arm of global beauty giant Estée Lauder Companies said: “A much loved and respected figure across the globe and an important figurehead in the UK, she leaves behind a remarkable legacy.”

The UK’s two leading beauty retailers Boots and Superdrug also issued statements, with Superdrug stating its thoughts were with the family.
Boots UK said: “As we join the nation in mourning, we pay tribute to the contribution Her Majesty has made around the world through decades of public service.”

King Charles III, aged 73, would now take on the Head of State and monarch role following the death of his mother.
