Indie Beauty Profile Brian Duangpichakul Kinx
In his Indie Beauty Profile, Brian Duangpichakul founder of Kinx explains how an industrial products pro gets into the beauty business and gives a glimpse of how his brand envisions cosmetics and fitness overlapping in the marketplace.

Every beauty brand starts somewhere. And while Kinx has been up and running for a very short time, the team behind the brand is optimistic and just may be the sort of cosmetics-company-in-the-making that can serve as a real-time, honest case study in brand building.

Here, the beauty entrepreneur shares a profile of himself and the brand.

Name: Brian Duangpichakul, Founder and Business Development lead

Indie Beauty Company: Kinx

Launched: October 2017

Headquarters: Torrance, California

Cash flow: still too new to say

Team work: 4 full-time employees and 2 part-time

Distribution: Currently through our ecommerce site www.kinxactive.com. We will also be featured in the new Ipsy shopper app.

Years in beauty: I’m new to the industry, coming from a technical engineering sales field. We, Eric Bochniarz, Kinx National Sales and Marketing Manager, and I have been working on putting this brand together for 3 years and worked a year previously on importing raw materials and finished goods for the cosmetic industry.

Entrepreneurial experience: Eric and I worked together at Air Products, a major manufacturer of industrial process gas. I left and started my own business importing mica, a raw material for cosmetics. He came aboard to work on sales and marketing. We branched out into finished goods, and then finally I decided to create my own makeup label.

The business: We are an active or athleisure wear cosmetic company that formulates beauty products for active women on the go. We’ve successfully fused the art of beauty and the science of fitness and activity.

The wow-factor: Kinx is devoted to creating beauty products specifically to keep up with women’s active lifestyle.

Theconsumer: Any active and busy woman.

Milestone moment: I’m proud of the fact that we have a promotional partnership with Athleta, a partnership with Ipsy and FIT4MOM, and including this article a total of 4 press [hits] within a month’s time period.

Advice for fellow indie beauty entrepreneurs: Take your time and make sure you have put a lot of time and careful planning into every aspect of your business.

Just one: My favorite personal care product is a Harnn face mist spray.
