Croda claims split ends breakthrough for Crodabond CSA
Dominant cosmetics ingredient player Croda says its development team has come up with new data for the Crodabond CSA technology that underlines its ability to repair and seal split ends.

Many hair care formulations claim to repair, mend of fix split ends, but the Croda development team believes they have an industry leading position with the ingredient's now clinically proven ability to seal split ends, thus providing a longer-lasting repair.

Going further, Croda says that the technology can provide consumers with a perceivable difference that makes it a game changer.

Doing away with the scissor solution?

Until now the only 100% effective means of treating split ends is to cut the hair cuticle where the split end finishes.

Crodabond CSA is said to avoid this step, allowing consumers to grow out longer and healthier-looking hair that does not require so much maintenance.

The data underlines how the technology can help to keep split ends sealed through multiple shampoo washes, and in conjunction with rinse-off treatments.

The clinical study that was undertaken to compile the data involved studying samples of hair with various degrees of split ends, treating them with Crodabond CSA and then comparing it to a premium mass market treatment, as a benchmark for both leave-in and rinse-off formulations.

Data showed superior repair mechanism

The development team say that proof of its ingredients superior effect came out when Scanning Electron Microscope Photos were compared, highlighting a superior repair mechanisms and as shinier-looking and smoother-feeling hair.

According to Croda, the effect is achieved thanks to the ingredient’s ability to adhere to lifted cuticles, which in turn ‘cements them down and smoothing out the hair fibre’.

“An area of specific interest to both consumers and hair care brands is split end repair, as it represents a particularly complex need to fulfill and formulators are working diligently to surmount the challenge of creating ever-more-effective offerings,” said Denise Costrini, marketing manager – hair care, Croda.
