Technimark, a provider of plastic injection moldings for the cosmetics and personal care packaging industry, has opened up a new injection molding facility in Silao, Mexico.

The company said it made an investment of $5m in the new 93,00 square foot facility, which is its third in the country and forms part of its model to promote the global growth of the business.

The facility has also been designed to incorporate further future growth, with plans already afoot to almost double the surface area, eventually creating a 160,000 square facility that will employ 250 people.

Targeting growth in emerging markets

It will house the latest injection molding, automation and decoration equipment, with the aim of providing high-volume production with an emphasis on high-end finish and quality for primary packaging solutions.

“Our new facility here in Silao is part of Technimark’s overall global growth strategy,” Kris Peavy, senior vice president of sales and marketing.

“Our business continues to grow in the emerging markets, especially Latin America, and we are committed to bringing our market-leading services and technology closer to our customers to ensure we can continue to serve them as effectively and efficiently as possible.”

Further international growth is in hand

The company is headquartered in Asheboro, North Carolina and was founded in 1983. Since then it has been developed into a global business, serving packaging requirements for a spectrum of industries, as well as healthcare and some industrial markets.

With the addition of the Silao facility, the company now has a total of six global manufacturing sites. These include two more in Mexico – Mexicali and Reynosa – together with facilities in the U.S., China and Germany.

The company says that, in addition to the new plant in Mexico, it is also expanding its operations in Germany, at its headquarters in North Carolina and in Suzhou, China.
