Du Pont will present fresh packaging design concepts and new sustainable materials at the Luxe Pack trade show in Monaco next month.

Presenting latest applications

The latest applications of Surlyn resins for leading brands such as Calvin Klein and Hugo Boss will be displayed to demonstrate their qualities.

Well known as the strong cut resistant plastic in golf balls, Surlyn is marketed by Du Pont for the cosmetics world on its ability to deliver maximum design freedom and consumer appeal.

Surlyn also offers glass-like clarity and ease of production, according to Du Pont.

Alongside Surlyn, Du Pont will be revealing a processing technology for the material at Luxe Pack that was developed to give designers even more freedom.

Sustainable products and goals

Du Pont will also feature its latest sustainable packaging products at the show including Biomax PTT, which was launched earlier in the year and contains 35 per cent renewably sourced materials.

The company claims the material offers sustainability without compromising on quality.

Biomax PTT 1100 was highlighted as one of the materials suited to cosmetics packaging and injection molded containers.

Its attributes include good gloss without varnishing as well as high stiffness, scratch and chemical resistance. Du Pont also claims the packaging material is not affected by exposure to common formulas and has high tensile and yield strength.

Du Pont has committed itself to improving its green range. The company plans to use strategic partnerships and R&D efforts to double its revenue from sustainable resources to $8 billion by 2015.

In the pursuit of this goal Du Pont signed a marketing and branding agreement with eco-friendly packaging specialist Plantic.

Australia-based Plantic, which makes biodegradable packaging from corn starch, will work with Du Pont to produce resins and sheet materials for cosmetics, personal care and food products.
