Milliken introduces plastics additives for packaging
bright, clear and colourful packaging for a range of consumer
products, including toiletries.
Milliken said that its global research and development and technical support enabled it to offer a portfolio of innovative polymer offerings around the globe, for plastic packaging solutions and innovative polymeric additives.
The company also claimed that its range of plastics additives also made packaging increasingly cost efficient.
"Our focus is on inventing polymer additive technologies that result in improved product quality, both aesthetically and functionally," said Milliken's business manager for the plastic additives business Jean Hall.
"From the production of clear baby bottles to durable storage containers, we work throughout the supply chain to understand and then help meet the needs of each link, starting at resin manufacturing through converting and ultimately to consumers," added Hall.
Milliken's range of innovative polymer-based plastics additives includes Millad 3988. The company claimed this clarifying agent for PP offered the highest transparency commercially possible.
According to the company, it is recognised across the globe for superior clarity and processing advantages. Millad clarified PP also has many benefits compared to other clear plastic materials including a lower density, strength and cost effectiveness.
Millad asserted it had been instrumental in the expansion of polypropylene into many value added applications, such as cosmetic bottles and food storage containers.
The company's ClearTint colourants are designed specifically to work in conjunction with Millad, and are said to provide the brightest, cleanest, and most transparent colors available for polypropylene.
Benefits of ClearTint include deep rich shades unavailable with traditional pigment colours, which are FDA compliant, non-migrating and non-extracting. Milliken claimed that ClearTint provided users with consistent colour matching capabilities on a global basis.
Applications for ClearTint colourants include diverse markets such as colorful packaging for detergents, shampoos and cosmetics, food storage containers and soft drink container closures.
