Friday, when the company announced the news, also marked the accomplished fragrance and beauty executive’s first day in her new role—a role where she’s expected not only to grow the current Parlux Fragrances global business but also to generate new licensing deals and strategic partnerships.

Lori Singer brings significant experience to her new role as president of Parlux Fragrances. She was, for the past nearly 15 years, an executive at Coty, where she held positions including group vice president of new business ventures and group vice president of gobal marketing. Prior to working at Coty, Singer was with Unilever Cosmetics; and she’s worked with Revlon, Benetton Group, and Tsumura International as well.

As the Parlux media release notes, Singer “was instrumental in building successful global fragrance businesses for some of fashion's leading designers including Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Balenciaga and Nautica. Most notably, Singer was responsible for the growth strategy and success for Marc Jacobs Daisy and its fragrance collection where the global business tripled under her leadership.”

Planning for growth

“Having worked with some of the most iconic designers in the industry, I am thrilled to be able to leverage my strengths in strategic brand building, licensing and consumer insights to guide Parlux' prestige fragrance collections,” Singer tells the press, adding that she sees “tremendous opportunity to maximize Parlux' existing franchises and expand the vision of the company to include unique fragrance collaborations and take the company to the next level.”

The current Parlux portfolio comprises Vince Camuto, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Bahama, Rihanna, Paris Hilton, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Simpson, Sean John, Michael Jordan, Pitbull, Pierre Cardin, Bijan, and Royal Copenhagen, according to the company’s site.

Hiring for success

Stephen Nussdorf, executive chairman of Perfumania Holdings, credits Singer with “a keen eye for emerging trends and building strategic partnerships.” And he says in the company media release announcing the new president, “Lori is an incredibly strong, intuitive and talented leader with proven success in building prestigious global fragrance businesses…I look forward to the exciting new opportunities she will uncover as she leads the company through its next phase of growth.”
