The manufacturer is making the move to better achieve profitability goals and to be eligible for local economic development funding.

Federal Package is a Minnesota-based company known for designing, manufacturing, and filling retail-ready packages for the cosmetics and health industries.

A grander facility
Federal Package will invest $7.2m in the new headquarters, which will be a part of the existing Powers Pointe multi-tenant facility in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The company is currently housed about 8 miles away in Chaska, Minnesota. Besides relocating, Federal intends to add 37 personnel to its team at the new site.

“Federal Package Network decided to stay in the southwestern metro after conducting a nationwide search to find the best place in the country to move the business,” according to Tom Furlong, mayor of Chanhassen.

Employment incentive
The state has a job creation program to bring more employment opportunities into Minnesota. The program provides funding incentives to businesses that hire for a set number of new positions and bring private investment to the state. Since January, when the Job Creation Fund began, Minnesota has awarded $13.3m to 26 companies, which have collectively promised to create over 1,300 new jobs and invest over $250m.

“The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) will award Federal Package Network $147,161 from the Minnesota Job Creation Fund if the company completes its investment and hiring goals,” stated the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development in the press release announcing the move.

The 37 new personnel that Federal is slated to hire when the new facility is operational in 2015 will each earn, on average, $14.46 per hour.

Container store
Federal Package concentrates its business on tubes for lip balm, containers for sunscreen products, and specialty containers. The on site catalogue shows packages ranging in volume from .07 oz to .65 oz. The containers and components come in white, neutral, and a spectrum of custom colors, including clear containers and shimmer finishes too.

Beyond molding containers, Federal offers its clients engineering and design services, labelling, filling (with either brand formulations or stock product), and blister cards.
