What to expect at this year’s MWSCC Teamworks 2024 event

The Midwest Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (MWSCC) conference will feature a keynote address from Chris Kanik, CEO and Founder of Smart Cups, as well as a Technical Symposium, over 150 exhibitors on the expo floor, a Presentation Theater, and Student Poster presentations.

MWSCC, a professional organization for cosmetic chemists located in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Iowa, is presenting this year’s Teamworks event this March 19, 2024, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. Teamworks is the society’s main ingredients and formulation event for the central northeast region and attracts over 1,000 attendees and over 150 exhibitors sharing the latest in industry innovations, research, and more.

Attendees and exhibitors

As detailed on the organization’s website, the event is designed for attendees in the cosmetics and personal care products industry space including “leading manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of raw materials and ingredients,” as well as “suppliers of testing, measurement and research equipment, as well as innovative service solutions and software providers.”

Historically, other attendees have included “tens of hundreds of chemists and product development specialists from the cosmetics, beauty, personal and household care sectors including R&D professionals involved in ingredient/strategic sourcing, formulation experts, and marketing/sales strategists,” according to the organization.

Previous exhibitors have included the following industry companies:

AAK, Accugen, Applechem, Ashland, Omya, Integrity Ingredients Corp., DeWolf — Azelis, DD Chemco, Brenntag, Grant Industries, FrymaKoruma, Pilot Chemical, Stepan Company, Mibelle Biochemistry, Croda, Lubrizol, KOBO Products, and Ingredion.

2024 program: keynote, symposium, and expo floor

MWSCC has announced that this year’s Teamworks Keynote speaker will be Chris Kanik, CEO and Founder of Smart Cups, who will deliver a Keynote Address on “The Fight for Progress: Smart Cups’ Willy Wonka-Inspired Innovation Saga.”

As detailed in a recent MWSCC press release, “Kanik will enlighten attendees on how he invented sustainability-driven technology providing healthier and delicious beverage options and how this same technology can apply to creating more sustainable consumables including cosmetics.”

He will further share his experience with his company, Smart Cups, which “employs a unique, novel approach of printing water-based products directly onto surfaces, aiming to advance sustainability and reduce waste in consumable product, termed​ active ingredient printing.”

Following the Keynote Address, the Teamworks event program includes the “Pure Imagination Technical Symposium, with sessions covering topics like “Patent Protection Strategies for Cosmetics,” and “Unleash Formulators Imagination with Digital Solution powered by A.I. and Push the Boundaries of Cosmetic Product Development.”

The Technical Symposium is scheduled to conclude with a presentation on “Ignite Imagine by Leveraging Emotional Intelligence (EQ),” delivered by Ellen Feldman Ornato, Partner, Bolder Company, the press release confirmed.

In addition to the Keynote Address and Technical Symposium, Teamworks 2024 will “also feature an expo floor with more than 150 Leading manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of raw materials, ingredients and more,” as well as a Presentation Theater featuring select exhibitors who will “address technical issues and the innovations/solutions that will assist in all aspects of formulation,” stated the release.

About the upcoming event, Amanda Rountree, Chair, Teamworks, Midwest Chapter SCC, shared that this year’s Teamworks “will provide the Midwest region with unmatched education, networking and industry opportunities,” the press release concluded.
