Formulated with bovine and marine collagens, along with several products containing highly concentrated borage oil, the new line marks the omega-3 player’s first foray into the beauty-from-within category.

Best known for its omega-3 fish oils, Nordic Naturals is introducing a new line to support skin health under the name Nordic Beauty.

“Consumers understand the power of nature to support their skin health and are looking for carefully sourced ingredients from brands they trust will deliver great results,” said Jackie Ullman, Nordic Naturals Brand Manager.

“We created this line in response to consumer desire for products that naturally nourish and revitalize skin and see these as the first of many in the Nordic Beauty Line.”

The new line is available direct to consumers through the company’s website, as well as via select online retailers. National retail distribution expected in fall, said the company.

Ullman told NutraIngrediens-USA that while the brand did introduce marine collagen four years ago as a stand-alone skin health product, the additional new products mark an official foray into the beauty market.

Growth figures underline importance of market

The importance of the categories is backed up by the significant growth being witnessed in the market.

“Collagen is a $600 million category, with the category growing +24% YOY in-store, and +63% YOY on Amazon,” said Ullman. In addition, “beauty and aging supplements are a growing $5.7 million category and are up +24% YOY in-store.”

To date, the line includes four products:

1. Nordic Beauty Collagen Peptides includes bioactive type I and III collagen peptides from pasture-raised, grass-fed cows that can be added to hot or cold beverages. The 10.6-ounce jar retails for an SRP of $37.95.

2. Nordic Beauty Marine Collagen is formulated with bioactive type I collagen peptides from sustainably sourced, wild-caught Arctic cod. The formulation also includes vitamin C from acerola fruit to support normal collagen formation, while also offering a mild strawberry flavor with no fishy aftertaste. The product can be easily mixed into hot or cold water, or a favorite beverage. The 5.3-ounce jar retails for an SRP of $39.95.

3. Nordic Beauty Borage Oil is a highly concentrated non-GMO, vegan oil from borage seed. The product is taken orally or can be mixed into a smoothie or other beverages and foods. A four-ounce bottle retails for an SRP of $29.95.

4. Nordic Beauty Omega-3 + Borage Oil combines highly concentrated EPA+DHA from fish oil and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) from borage seed oil to provide comprehensive support for healthy skin and whole-body wellness, said the company. A 60 soft gel bottle (30 servings) retails for an SRP of $59.95.
