This week, Los Angeles, California – based beauty and wellness maker HatchBeauty Brands announced the deal, which it’s promoting as ‘Trend Democratization’ – a venture that makes on-trend color cosmetics affordable.

“The acquisition will strengthen HatchBeauty's position as an authority on trend democratization within the beauty and wellness landscape.”

Duncan Enterprises is a privately owned consumer goods business specializing in products for ceramic arts, fashion arts, and crafting enthusiasts. Founded in 1946, Duncan Enterprises acquired its first cosmetics brand Tattoo Junkee in 2016, launched the in-house lip color and care brand LIQUE in mid-2018, and has since grown its beauty portfolio to include Remi Rose and BE Beauty Essentials as well.

The retail reach of Duncan Enterprises’ beauty brands

The Lique, Tattoo Junkie, Remi Rose, and BE Beauty Essentials brands all retail at Target, Kohls, Urban Outfitters, and Dollar Tree stores. But that’s likely to expand under HatchBeauty Brands ownership.

“We are excited to welcome the Duncan Cosmetics team into the HatchBeauty Brands family,” says Preston Bottomy, President of HatchBeauty Brands, in this week’s press release about the acquisition.

The deal “strengthens our commitment to ensuring consumers everywhere have access to affordable and efficacious beauty and wellness products,” he says, adding that, “In the months ahead, we look forward to sharing expertise between our teams and leveraging a broader brand portfolio across our network of retail partners.”

Larry Hermansen, President and CEO, of Duncan Enterprises since 2015, sees the acquisition as a growth opportunity for the company’s beauty brands portfolio: “The Duncan beauty team is thrilled to be part of the HatchBeauty Brands family of brands,” he says.

“This acquisition will maximize new product innovation and sales distribution for both companies,” Hermansen tells the press.

As he sees it, the deal will “create a powerhouse of beauty and wellness brand products for our consumers and retailer partners. Our shared vision, values, and passion for the beauty industry align perfectly with HatchBeauty Brands, and together we are going to do big things.”

HatchBeauty Brands to launch supplements business in 2020

The beauty and wellness ‘incubator’ as HatchBeauty Brands calls itself is on track to launch a celebrity-founded skin care and supplements brand before the year is out.

And the company’s existing skin care, hair care, and body care brand NatureWell will also launch a collection of supplements in early 2021, according to this week’s press release.

The current HatchBeauty Brands portfolio comprises the influencer-led skin, hair, and cosmetics brand Found; NatureWell (as mentioned above); hair brand Orland Pita Play; Kristofer Buckle’s eponymous makeup brand; and BabyPhat Beauty.
