The international cosmetics, personal care, and wellness awards program is known as a discovery platform for retailers and consumers as well as for being independent from advertiser or sponsorship support.

The Beauty Shortlist Awards invites entries in more than 400 categories, spanning both conventional beauty categories like Best Fragrance, Best Nail Product, Best Mascara, Best Facial Toner, etc.; and including beauty-adjacent wellness categories such as functional foods, teas, supplements, OTC products, and even a category for Best Garden Product.

For 2021, Beauty Shortlist Awards highlights CBD, sustainability, and inclusivity

Some of those 400+ categories are new for the 2021 edition of the Beauty Shortlist Awards. This year, there are more ways to win for CBD brands, both with skin care products and ingestibles; there are categories for plastic-free and zero-trace (compostable) brands, 5 categories for inclusive beauty products, and new categories for hyperpigmentation products, SPF products for darker skin tones, and products formulated for textured hair.

“This year has been a pivotal one for the ethical beauty and eco lifestyle worlds, with our health, as well as the health of the planet, both headlining the news,” Fiona Klonarides tells the press. Klonarides founded the Beauty Shortlist Awards in 2012 and took the program global in 2017.

Now, this year, she observes, “We’re seeing first-hand how brands from around the world are stepping up to innovate and create a new generation of safe and non-toxic products for daily life.”

And in 2021 Klonarides is hoping “to introduce people [consumers and retailers] to names they might not have heard of before, and encourage consumers to choose natural, reusable or zero trace products to help lighten the load of our over-burdened planet.”

2021 Beauty Shortlist Awards open for entries from brands around the world

Entries for next year’s Beauty Shortlist Awards opened at the start of September and will close on November 7, 2020. To be eligible, brands and products must launch at retail in the country where the brand is based by or before March 31, 2021. New brands, established brands, international brands—all are welcome. Awards will be announced in March.

“No other awards champion beauty brands, both established and upcoming, like The Beauty Shortlist does,” reads an on-site comment from The British Beauty Council (a non-profit membership organization that represents the industry to government officials and in the business sector). And the council goes on to call the Beauty Shortlist “A true celebration of the best, the awards’ impartiality and inclusiveness mean that there’s an opportunity for every brand to take part irrespective of budget, size or provenance, and to share a platform that brings them wider recognition.”To learn more about The Beauty Shortlist Awards and find a form to enter, click here.
