Croda to open new US headquarters this year
Croda serves the beauty and personal care industries as well as some 20 others, including automotive, construction, energy, household and institutional cleaning, paints and coatings, pharmaceuticals, etc.
And according to David Shannon, Senior Vice President of Croda Inc., the new Headquarters and Innovation Centre will benefit them all. “It is our desire to provide each of our industries with new technologies that will improve consumer experience in a maximum capacity,” he says in this week’s press release announcing the new construction.
“With our new capabilities and assets in the new facility,” says Shannon, “our goal is to use this space to provide our customers the necessary tools to meet their business objectives, while simultaneously progressing our purpose of delivering smart science to improve lives.”
Beauty ingredient maker Croda has been operating in the US for 70 years
Multinational specialty chemical maker Croda was founded in 1925 and has its global headquarters in Goole, East Yorkshire in the UK. The company has had a presence in the US since 1950 when offices were opened in New York City.
Today, the Croda US Headquarters are located in Edison, New Jersey, and the company operates manufacturing facilities in three cities: Atlas Point, Delaware; Mill Hall, Pennsylvania; and Salinas, California.
And by the end of 2020, Croda will move its Headquarters to a new facility outside of Princeton, New Jersey. The new building will house not only the company’s US Headquarters but also a sizable laboratory as well as what’s being called a customer experience centre—where clients can work side-by-side with Croda technical experts for both trainings and collaborations.
Croda is building a headquarters to support collaboration and sustainability
It’s increasingly common for ingredient makers and contract manufacturers to open and operate cross-functional sites meant to facilitate cooperation between various internal teams and to welcome clients and prospective clients into the spaces where innovation, formulation, testing, and production happen.
- Shiseido opened an Americas Innovation Center to this end in 2016, as Cosmetics Design reported.
- Canada-based Cosmetica opened an innovation hub to welcome and work with clients late last year.
- Clariant’s customer care and innovation facility in New Providence, New Jersey, is another good example of a site carefully designed to make beauty ingredient and product development more collaborative.
And Croda’s US Headquarters and Innovation Centre will join the list when it opens later this year. “Our employees are our difference, being the lifeblood and future of our organisation. We have chosen a new location where our employees will thrive and create an even stronger North American team,” Shannon tells the press.
“It is our vision,” he says, “that this new environment, with innovation and sustainability at the core, will spark new ideas and push the boundaries of our thinking to deliver a positive difference to our customers, the environment and to society, delivering our purpose of providing Smart Science to Improve Lives.”
