Today the company announced the launch of DEOBIOME, a microbiome-friendly new ingredient that reimagines how deodorant formulations can work.

“The launch of DEOBIOME is a great achievement for our company, and it also implies a great scientific advance for body odour treatment,” says Òscar Expósito, CEO, CSO and Co-Founder of Vytrus Biotech, in today’s press release.

And he continues, pointing out that, “our ingredient is the first biological deodorant of the market. Furthermore, it respects the skin microbiota thanks to the innovative mechanism of action of the active.”

Vytrus Biotech new deodorant ingredient doesn’t stop sweat and doesn’t eliminate bacteria

Deobiome Noni is a prebiotic ingredient that modulates the skin microbiome. According to the Vytrus Biotech press release, the new ingredient is “the first deodorant treatment that allows the axilla to perspire while avoiding the bad odor generation, while respecting the skin microbiota and the ecosystem.”

And Deobiome Noni is not just for underarm applications. The company sees potential for foot treatment products, scalp treatments, and body care as well. And the new ingredient is compatible with a number of product formats too: gel, cream, lotion, serum, and roll-on, according to the release.

Making personal care ingredients with biotechnology

Headquartered in Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain, Vytrus Biotech is a startup company that began as a research group at the University of Barcelona and was spun off in 2009. The company has been making ingredients for the beauty industry since 2011; and now has some 15 cosmetic and personal care ingredients on the market.

The new Deobiome Noni ingredient is made using noni fruit (morinda citrifolia) stem cells. The deodorant alternative ingredient will expand formulation possibilities for underarm deodorant and other similar products: With this latest ingredient launch,“Vytrus Biotech has broadened the scope of axillary care by designing a biological deodorant treatment that efficiently eliminates the bad odour,” asserts the company.
