Neenah launches hemp fiber packaging material for beauty makers

“We’re addressing [the global CBD] market head-on by supporting the designers of Cannabis and CBD brands with hemp-infused packaging papers that align with the visions and values of these products,”​ Michelle Turner, brand manager at Neenah tells the press.

The new collection of hemp board papers are featured in the company’s new swatchbook (pictured above) that the Neenah sales team is sharing with current and prospective customers.

“The swatchbook,”​ explains Turner in the company’s media release, “is designed to be a reference book for the stocked shades, textures and weights Neenah offers. However, this book is just a jumping-off point to help designers think about the possibilities. Neenah’s custom capabilities can help customers create unique, one-of-a-kind packaging papers. Neenah offers solutions to help our customers take their ideas, and the visions of their customers, wherever they may lead.”​

Neenah offer hemp board papers in 4 colors​

The new hemp-infused packaging material comes in four colors, three of which have proved to be quite popular packaging colors for the company in an array of other materials: white, desert storm, and deep black. The forth color, industrial black, is entirely new.

As the media release describes it, “this new color is an ever-so-lighter, everyday, hardworking, high quality, beater dyed black board, for when the extra dark richness of Deep Black isn’t what designers are looking for.”​

Deep Black is a rich black color that doesn’t let the fiber of the paper board to show through. Desert Storm is a sandy beige color that does show some fiber texture. And, White is a bright white in which “hemp fibers are highly visible” ​and best “for brands that want to clearly identify the use of hemp papers in their package design,” ​according to the Neenah media release.

The four coatings available for the new hemp collection were created to work well with other Neenah materials: “these new finishes are designed to coordinate with papers from Neenah’s premium uncoated writing, text, and cover portfolio,” ​states the release. And the company takes care to note that none of the finishes add shine.

The four coating finishes available for the hemp collection are as follows:

• New Soft Touch Single: Coated on one side, this velvety surface adds touchable texture.
• New Pearlized Single: Coated on one side, this board adds instant shimmer and shine to any package.
• New Matte Single: Coated on one side, this sheet offers a subtle matte finish.
• New Matte Double: The subtle matte finish coats both sides of this paper.
