Expo Pack Guadalajara, one of the leading events for the packaging and processing industries in Latin America, broke attendance records for its 2019 event.

Taking place in the heart of the Mexico’s manufacturing belt from June 11 to 13, the three day event attracted a record 17,000 attendees, filling the space to capacity, while more than 700 exhibitors were packed into the 15,000 square meter show florr.

Event organizer PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technology, said both the attendance and exhibitor numbers had exceeded even its higher end forecasts.

Tenth anniversary

Now in its tenth year, the event has rapidly expanded into the biggest event in the region for packaging industry professionals from all types of consumer industries, but especially the cosmetics, personal care, food and beverage categories.

“Expo Pack Guadalajara showed this year that it has cemented its place as the premier packaging show in the region,” said Anthony Colquitt, director of business development – LATAM for BW Packaging Systems.

“Not only the number [of attendees], but the quality of the companies and customers who attended was beyond belief – we were able to have productive meetings and move projects forward because the right people were at the show.”

Serving the LATAM market

Held in Mexico, one of the largest markets in the Latin America region, the organizers have continued to focus on the event as one to platform the whole region, reflected in the fact that both visitors and exhibitors were from every country in the region, and worldwide.

The organizers say that for the 2019 event, exhibitors and attendees came from over 40 countries, including Argentina, Canada, China, France, Italy, Spain and the US.

Indeed, the increased international representation this year saw a 6% hike in international visitors compared to the figures for the 2018 show, with the largest attendee participation coming from Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru and El Salvador.

New this year

An addition to this year’s show was the Daily Keynotes Series, which included world-class presentations from industry thought leaders.

Day one featured a look at packaging e-commerce development highlighted by a presentation given my market intelligence provider Mintel, while day two featured a panel discussion focusing on opportunities for innovation in packaging and processing.

PMMI have confirmed that next year’s event will return to Mexico City in 2020, with the dates for Expo Pack Mexico set for June 2 – 5 2020, at Expo Santa Fe.
