The annual CITY awards facilitated by ICMAD have been rebranded for 2019 and are now accepting entries for products, brands, and people across some 14 categories.

The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors association is a non-profit trade group that’s been actively supporting indie businesses in the beauty industry since 1974. “Through the IBI Awards, as well as our ongoing events and member benefits, ICMAD is committed to supporting, educating and fostering growth and profitability of entrepreneurial companies in the global cosmetic and personal care space,” affirms Sanjiv Mehra, the association’s current board chair and co-founder or eos, in a press release about the IBI Awards.

The ICMAD membership roster includes brands like amika, manic panic, Coola Suncare, Hynt Beauty, Juice Beauty, Mary Kay, NYX Cosmetics, and Tarte, as well as manufactures like solésence, branding and product development firms like Colour Collective, software companies like Coptis, and ingredient distributors like Ross Organic Specialty Sales.

Award winning

ICMAD launched its awards program in 1994; and through ‘till last year, the awards were known at the CITYs or Cosmetics Innovator of The Year awards. For 2019, “the newly rebranded and renamed awards clearly spell out the DNA of the program and its intention to recognize the true innovators and innovation in the beauty industry,” according to the awards website.

The product categories for this year’s awards span tools and brushes, bath and body care, fragrance, hair care, color cosmetics and complexion products, men’s personal care and grooming, nails, and skin care. Beyond that the IBI Awards will honor an Innovator Brand of  the Year, a Green Innovator Brand of the Year, the Best Financial Partner of the Year, a Charitable Company, an Entrepreneur of the Year; and one winner in the afore mentioned categories will be singled out for the Influencer Choice Award.

“Our annual awards program provides a valuable platform to recognize best-in-class innovation in the dynamic and fast-paced cosmetic and personal care industries,” promises Mehra in his comments to the press.

The deadline for entries is May 30, 2019. And you can learn more about the IBI Awards categories, qualifications, and judges; and find a link to enter here.
