The microbiome trend takes center stage for Cosmetics Design this year
The microbiome trend has taken the industry by storm and Cosmetics Design is homing in on it with a dedicated ingredient category for this year’s Beauty Industry Awards as well as a two-day conference program dedicated to the topic for our inaugural Cosmetics Design Summit.

A growing body of scientific evidence points to the fact that a healthy skin microbiome not only provides a barrier of protection to the skin, but can also lead to a healthier and more vital-looking complexion.

The scientific research into skin microbiome has focused on finding out more about the different types of bacteria that are present on the skin’s surface and the fact that many of these bacteria are actually beneficial to skin health.

Targeting growing consumer interest

Taking advantage of this, a significant number of skin care brands, as well as leading ingredients providers have been targeting the growing consumer interest in products that serve to enhance the skins microbiome.

This has led to a plethora of ingredients that aim to protect and enhance certain skin bacteria, together with a wide range of finished products with a broad spectrum of claims, mainly focused on serving to protect and enhance the many types of skin flora that are found in the superficial layers of the epidermis and on hair follicles.

Reflecting the huge growth in this category over the last year, Cosmetics Design has created a new category for its annual Beauty Industry Awards dedicated to the trend.

Beauty Industry Awards Best Skin Microbiome Brand

The Best Skin Microbiome Brand category invites any brand on the market with microbiome claims to enter the competition to determine the best product on the market, according to our panel of carefully chosen judges.

The judges will be looking at the overall brand rather than specific products to determine the winner according to a number of criteria that will include the level of innovation, the best benefits for consumers, the lowest environmental impact and the most effective branding and packaging.

If you think your brand may have what it takes to top the competition in the microbiome category, don’t forget to click here. And don’t put it off, as the deadline for entries is February 8th.

The Cosmetics Design Summit – Skin Microbiome Innovation

Equally noteworthy for businesses either already occupying this category, or contemplating taking the plunge is the fact that later on in the year the team will also be bringing you its first ever Cosmetics Design Summit, which will be a two-day presentation program entirely devoted to the microbiome trend.

Taking place in Amsterdam, 24 – 25 June, The Cosmetics Design Summit is entirely focused on Skin Microbiome Innovation and will bring together some of the leading experts in the fields to share their experiences and expertise on the subject.

The speakers we have lined up for the event include some of the most eminent and most impactful players, with Kit Wallen Russell, founder of JooMo, Marie Drago of Gallinée and Jasmina Agnovic of Mother Dirt already confirmed.

To find out more about attending the event, please go the registration page of the website.
