It’s fairly common practice in men’s grooming to improve manual razors by adding more blades for better benefits. Now, OneBlade—the brand building a business around single-edge shaving—has launched a mid-priced version of its popular razors, continuing to flout conventional thinking in the category, maintaining that less is more.

OneBlade has been in business since 2015. Founders Porter Stansberry and Tod Barrett have, according to a media release about the latest OneBlade launch, developed a “single-edge shaving system that focuses on an optimal head design, forgiving pivot and world-class blades, …[providing] barbershop-quality grooming in the comfort of one's own home.”

What’s new

Late last month OneBlade debuted its HYBRID razor. “An amalgam of OneBlade's already popular CORE and GENESIS razors, the HYBRID is offered as a modestly priced option for those who seek quality and desire the best experience and outcome,” explains the media release.

On the OneBalde ecommerce site a GENESIS is sold for $399, the CORE for $79, and the new HYBRID for $199. (There are special-edition GENESIS models available for $699 and $2,500.)

But it’s not only the price of the HYBRID that falls midway between the affordable offering and the luxury one, the new razor borrows features, material, and design elements from the others as well.

The HYBRID includes the brand’s patent-pending ‘active floating blade’ technology, incorporates stainless steel components, and is hand-assembled, just as the brand’s other razors are.  And, the HYBRID, like the CORE, has a handle made from BPA-free Tritan polymer made by Eastman Chemical Company.

Skin care too

OneBlade also sells product bundles, kits including a razor, 20 replacement blades, shaving cream, a shaving brush, and an after-shave balm.

Additionally, the brand’s ecommerce site offers those skin care products individually as well as a small assortment of other skin care, a few different brush options, and some shave accessories. Beyond the balm and cream mentioned above, the OneBlade skin care collection comprises a shave repair gel and a moisturizing shave cream for sensitive skin.
