Today is National #FragranceDay
At the start of 2018, The Fragrance Foundation hosted an event for members (and the press) where new president Linda Levy announced not only the professional organization’s refreshed mission but also a new official national day. March 21, 2018 is the first National Fragrance Day in the US; and today the whole industry is celebrating!

All month on Instagram, The Fragrance Foundation has been counting down the days to National Fragrance Day. And now that the day has arrived, perfumers, fragrance makers, brands, retailers, and consumers are joining together in a celebration of scent online, in store, and beyond.

In all Bloomingdales stores, for instance, signage will announce the new national day. And other retailers are running special Fragrance Day promotions.

Promotions

Diptyque, maker of luxury body care, skin care, perfumes, and scented candles, will be offering consumers shopping in its boutiques a complementary travel spray with any purchase on National Fragrance Day. And the Diptyque pop-up shop here in New York City will of course be open today as well.

Victoria Secret stores are also running a National Fragrance Day promotion, offering 3 mini mists, rollerballs, or Mist Collection items for $21.

Events

A.N. Other, the fragrance brand that invites perfumers to create scents limited only by the bounds of their own creativity (rather than within the parameters of a brand brief or budget), is hosting a reception at the Perfumariē today; and Symrise perfumer David Apel is the featured guest. (Read more about the Perfumariē, NYC’s innovative fragrance retail shop, here on Cosmetics Design.)

This evening, as part of the Harlem Commonwealth Council’s Growth Path Kickoff & Conversation for Entrepreneurs of Color, Julee Wilson, fashion and beauty director at ESSENCE Magazine will moderate a fireside chat with Chris Collins of Chris Collins Alchemy of Fragrance at Ginny’s Super Club in the Red Rooster. (more info here)

The fine fragrance concept shop Olfactory NYC is hosting a candle launch and influencer event in their space at 281 Mott Street in Manhattan’s NOLITA neighborhood today.

And, Coty is holding an Empire State Building fragrance desk drop and a company-wide on-site fragrance activation.

Social Media

Sephora’s 13.9 million Instagram followers will have the chance to engage with Instagram Live Merchant Must Have segments dedicated to Fragrance Day today. And the beauty retailer is also posting a YouTube video showing ‘finish with fragrance’ moments.

Bella Blanca, an Oscar de la Renta women’s fragrance by Interparfums, is involved with a Refinery29 social media campaign and is sending out a dedicated email for National Fragrance Day too.

And, expect to see Instagram posts celebrating the first National Fragrance Day from these and other brands: @toryburch, @diorparfums, @viktorandrolf, @marcjacobsfragrances, @yslbeauty, @victoriassecret, and @saks.
