NJPEC Package of the Year Awards Gala takes place this month

The 2017 edition of the annual New Jersey Packaging Executives Club awards event on Thursday, November 16, will be a celebration of this year’s winners—winners whose names have already been announced. And, several prominent beauty brands and esteemed industry packaging companies are on this year's list.

The NJPEC is a non-profit professional membership organization for people who live or work in New Jersey. Other industry pros work closely with packaging companies in the state are eligible for membership as well. And for qualified students, membership is free.

The organization got its start in 1962, and today’s membership comprises professionals in beauty, personal care, and fragrance packaging as well as packaging pros from other industries like beverage and household.

According to press materials circulated by the organization, “The culture of NJPEC is comfortable, collaborative and professional; creating an environment of learning, and business networking.  Members invest their time, skills and knowledge to strengthen the packaging industry with talent and innovation.  Numerous scholarship programs and mentoring opportunities are offered to support those entering the packaging field.”

The awards

Awards are given for, of course, Package of the Year as well as for a Student Choice Award. Nine category-specific awards are given as well for fragrance, color cosmetics, health and beauty, personal care, and more.

“This year’s competition was fierce; generating diverse praise and discussion from our judges especially with the intricate packaging pieces that were submitted,”​ Peter Gould, chair of this year’s NJPEC Package of the Year committee, tells the press.“We look forward to awards night, when the entire industry comes together to recognize and celebrate this year’s incredible achievements in packaging, design, and engineering.”

The gala gets underway at 6:00pm on Thursday, November 16, and will be held at the The Madison Hotel in Morristown, New Jersey.
