Henkel has confirmed the closing of its acquisition of Nattura Laboratorios, a move that expands its footprint in the Latin American professional hair care market.

The agreement to acquire the business was originally signed back in March of this year, adding the Nattura business and associated companies in the USA, Colombia and Spain to its global portfolio.

Nattura, which was established in 1982, also serves the Colombian market, as well as other key markets throughout the Latin America, where it is focused on the professional hair care category.

Strengthening Henkel's global business reach

“This acquisition is part of our strategy to strengthen our position in attractive markets and categories and will reinforce Henkel’s global No. 3 position in the hair professional business,” said Henkel CEO Hans Van Bylen.

Nattura is headquartered in Guadalaraja, Mexico, where the company already has extensive business operations, while, in addition to it Latin American business, it also has a strong footprint in the US market.

Henkel is already a major global player in the professional hair care market, and with the acquisition of the new portfolio it is adding several new brands that include Pravana and Tec Italy.

Acquisition of strong brands

In 2016 the Nattura hair care brand portfolio had a combined sales of €100 million in fiscal 2016, a figure that should positively impact’s Henkel’s group sales in fiscal 2018. Both parties had previously agreed not to divulge any financial details of the agreement.

“The strong brands of Nattura Laboratorios are a perfect fit for our Beauty Care business,’ said Pascal Houdayer, Executive Vice President and responsible for Henkel’s Beauty Care business.

“This transaction provides an excellent platform for further growth in the attractive Latin American market and further expands our strong presence in North America.”
