IBE opens in NYC next month – prepare to be inspired by beauty
This year’s New York City edition of the Indie Beauty Expo runs from Tuesday, August 22 through Thursday, August 24. And to accommodate the growing event—well over 200 brands from around the world are set to exhibit—there’s a new venue: day one of the event is being held at Skylight Modern, while days two and three will be at Skylight Clarkson Sq.
Each day of the event has a distinct focus and target audience, which gives brands, founders, and attendees from in and beyond the industry the opportunity to be in the right place at the right time.
Connect Indie
On day one of the Indie Beauty Expo, entrepreneurs will gather for Connect Indie, a day of educational programming covering topics in capital, retail, and media. And the sessions are open to all interested indie beauty brand leaders, not simply those from brands that are exhibiting.
“The entire curriculum is centered on the educational needs of beauty entrepreneurs at varying levels of experience,” explains promotional material IBE is circulating. And, “Each course is compatible with its prerequisites, building upon one another to seamlessly advance the learning of the entrepreneur.”
This year’s course topics include Capital & Funding Landscape; Fundamentals of Valuation; Home Shopping Channels; Anatomy of a Wholesale Contract; Press, Media & Digital Influencer Landscape; and Digital Influencer Marketing.
A series of expert panel discussions will round out Connect Indie, and there will be a networking reception that evening as well.
Shop Indie
Day two of IBE is Shop Indie, which is a lot like it sounds. This day is all about shopping for and discovering indie beauty. Bloggers and consumers are invited to attend Shop Indie and “discover incredible brands, learn from the experts, ….meet the movers and shakers behind the indie beauty movement, be the first to try hot new products and share [their] experience with the world,” according to the IBE site.
For Shop Indie, two ticket levels are available: general admission and VIP.
Trade Indie
The third and final day of IBE is when the exhibiting brands and the industry get down to business. Or, as the site describes it, Trade Indie is “time for beauty professionals to transact with the world’s largest collection of independent beauty brands.”
Buyers, press, beauty and wellness pros, and other professionals (a wide-ranging category comprising allies and service providers such as wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, formulators, packagers, PR firms, media agencies, investment bankers, ad agencies, and non-exhibiting brands) are invited to Trade Indie.
