Last Thursday evening at the LVMH Tower in New York City, the foundation held its third-annual event celebrating The Notables, accomplished millennial executives working in every facet of the fragrance business from oil houses through to brands.

Above all, “the award is a morale booster,” Elizabeth Musmanno, president of The Fragrance Foundation tells Cosmetics Design. Being singled out for the award motivates, inspires, and encourages young executives to continue achieving great results and investing their own unique talents and sensibilities in an industry that only thrives when creativity and commercial knowhow intersect.

Each professional honored with The Notables award is not only recognized by their boss in front of prominent fragrance industry leaders the night of the event but is also invited to attend the foundation’s programming throughout the year and is featured in the group’s annual awards journal too.

Creative professionals

Asked about what professional skills industry executives need to succeed in the current moment, Musmanno responded by saying that “communication skills are more important than ever in fragrance.”

She tells Cosmetics Design that with so much going on in the digital space, with consumers (and professionals) getting a bulk of their information online, communication skills are increasingly valuable for every fragrance professional.

Musmanno went on to note that communication skills overlap with marketing skills, which may explain why this year’s roster of The Notables award winners includes six marketing professionals.

The Notables

According to executive leaders presenting each of the awards, several of this year’s honorees indeed embody that modern sensibility. Tennille Kopiasz, SVP of North American marketing for LVMH’s Parfums Christian Dior introduced honoree Jacklyn Lee as someone who flexes both her left and right brain, explaining that she is at once analytical and creative.

A full list of The Notables honored by The Fragrance Foundation for 2017 follows:

  • Alexandra Hardyment, executive director of AERIN Beauty
  • Jacklyn Lee, fragrance marketing manager at LVMH: Parfums Christian Dior
  • Jessica Luc, marketing manager of fine fragrances and specialty bath at Symrise
