The Mibelle Group will purchase Procter & Gamble’s Ondal Sarl production site in Sarreguemines in France as it looks to strengthen its already close business relationship with the consumer goods giant and expand its existing cosmetics product range.

The transaction will go through as of 31 July 2016, with the Mibelle Group saying it will systematically further its strategy of international growth.

The Switzerland based company also says that all the P&G employees will be retained at the production site.

Strengthen

The Mibelle Group, as a full-service customer brand manufacturer, serves the three business units Personal Care, Home Care and Nutrition.

With the business unit Mibelle Group Brands, it is also active in the development and management of exclusive brands in the cosmetics sector, with an independently operating business unit, Mibelle Biochemistry, which is specialised in the research and development of active ingredients for cosmetic applications.

This latest move to buy the Ondal Sarl production site from P&G could look to strengthen it’s the Group’s cosmetics presence further as a number of these products are already manufactured there.

There is also the news from July last year, that P&G agreed to merge more than 40 of its beauty brands with perfume specialist Coty, that could impact this purchase too.

Opportunities

Many of the beauty brands divested to Coty are manufactured at Ondal Sarl. The Mibelle Group says that as a result of the close customer relationship it has with P&G, this situation presented an attractive opportunity, as it will take over the site.

The Buchs-headquartered group says it will continue to manufacture there for P&G and also for Coty, assuming the closing of the merger.

The company employs around 180 people and specialises the production of retail and professional hair care products, hair colourants and face- and body care products.

This production site has modern equipment and technologies which will allow the Mibelle Group to expand its existing product range.

The Mibelle Group will continue to employ Ondal France’s entire workforce, and says the increase in new brands to service will also lead to additional jobs being created in Switzerland.

“This acquisition is a perfect fit with the Mibelle Group’s strategic direction and will make a significant contribution to the planned international expansion,” it ends.
