Estée Lauder puts John Demsey in charge of Clinique and men’s skin care

Estée Lauder Companies has announced additional responsibilities for executive group president John Demsey, while also promoting Jane Hertzmark Hudis to group president.

The announcement forms part of the company’s drive to realign its expanding and evolving product portfolio, as well filling the gap left following the recent announcement that the outgoing group president Lynne Greene is retiring.

Demsey now adds the eponymous Clinique brand, as well as the fast growing men’s skin care group to his responsibilities, which also include some of the company’s biggest and most successful key brands.

Demsey's responsibilities grow

In addition to the additional brands, Demsey will also head up a newly established Center for Excellence for Creative, which will continue to advance the development of new ideas for the business, as well as boosting talent development.

Those brands under Demsey’s direction already number 13, which include Aramis and Designer Fragrances, Prescriptives, M•A•C Cosmetics (“M•A•C”), Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone London, Bumble and bumble, Tom Ford, Smashbox, RODIN olio lusso, Le Labo, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle and GLAMGLOW.

In addition to her new responsibilities as group president, Hertzmark Hudis will continue to lead the company’s Estée Lauder and Aerin brands, while adding La Mer, Darphin, Origins and Aveda to her portfolio.

Like Demsey, she will also have more executive responsibilities, which will include the leadership of several committees within the business.

Both execs will report to Farbrizio Freda

Both of the executives will report to Fabrizio Freda, president and Chief Executive Officer, and will work alongside Greene until her retirement in June of 2016.
