U°Thermic is a start-up skin care company responsible for Coldscreen, a brand that promises to moisturize dry winter skin as well as making the more unusual claim of helping to retain warmth on chilly winter days.

New Zealand-based company co-founders Ryan and Alex Tattle wanted to give global reach to the recently launched product line, so decided to use crowdfunding to raise the necessary funds to give the campaign a kickstart.

According to the brothers, they wanted to raise $40,000 in the space of a month-long campaign that ends on November 17th. The appeal of the product line with crowfunding supporters means that the figure has already been surpassed, they say.

The funding will continue...

The campaign will last a total of 34 days, and according, to the company it has so far received contributions from over 350 backers, with more expected to be confirmed in the final days.

The success means that once the crowdfunding campaign ends, the skin care brand will start funding on Indiegogo InDemand, a complimentary platform for successful crowfunding campaigns that allows further funds to be raised.

“We’re are hugely thankful to all of our awesome backers that helped us reach our goal of $40,000. The Team at U°THERMIC cannot wait for all of our early supporters to get their product in January and enjoy the warmest, most unrestricted winter yet ,” said Ryan Tattle.

“With the money raised, we will be able to open this new choice and get Coldscreen out there into as many cold hands as possible, we can also begin mass production to ensure that it will be available to anyone that will benefit from more warmth this winter.”

The secret is in the skin warming claims

What has caught the imagination of the crowdfunders, many of whom are North Americans, is the skin warming claiming, something that should appeal to the many winter sports fans who love their activity but dislike the pain and discomfort associated with freezing skin.

But the secret to the heat retention properties is not down to any mystifying biotechnology, it is purely down to the fact that, as well as being a moisturizer, it serves forms a simple barrier on the skin that helps to protect it and also retain the body’s natural heat.

Said to be formulated with 98% natural products, the skin care line begins working after 5 to 15 minutes, lasts up to four hours and is suitable for all skin types.
