The 2015 edition of in-cosmetics Asia has opened its doors to global ingredients suppliers as they aim to do business with buyers, manufacturers, formulators, scientists and marketing professionals from across Asia.

From the 3rd -5th November, 400+ global suppliers will showcase their products to approximately 7,000 Asian cosmetic manufacturers and distributors at Hall 101 - 103, BITEC in Bangkok.

As well as showcasing new product innovations, visitors have access to a free educational programme in the form of marketing trends and regulatory presentations, innovation seminars and the highly popular 'Formulation Lab', introduced in 2014 exclusively for R&D professionals and formulators.

Talks not to be missed this year include the impact of 3D bioprinting on the cosmetics industry from Arnold Bos at Lux Research on Day 3, while Cosmetics Design will be challenging the myth that SPF based products are the best protection for Asian skin on the first day of the show.

Natural and organic is a big theme this year

Most Asian consumers are still unaware of the differences between natural and conventional cosmetics and these sales predominantly represent purchases in the West.

However, the region's people are becoming increasingly concerned about chemicals such as parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), aluminium salts, phthalates and petroleum-based ingredients.

Thus, Organic Monitor reports that there is in fact, huge growth potential for this segment within the pan-Asian market, with forecasts predicting double-digit rises with revenues to pass the $1bn mark in the next two years.

Best ingredient award finalists

Finalists of this year’s 'Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Awards' includes Ashland, Lucas Meyer, Gattefossé, Induchem, Evonik, Lipotec and Lipoid Kosmetik.

They have been selected by a panel of industry experts, including Alain Khaiat of Seers Consulting, Karl Lintner, President of KAL’IDEES S.A.S., Jack Ferguson, founder of Skinnovation Ltd, Marc Pissavini, Director of Basic & Applied Research at Coty-Lancaster Group and Muriel Pujos, Director of Scientific Coordination Multi Brands at Coty Group.

Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be announced at a reception taking place on Wednesday 4th November from 14:00 - 15:00 on the Innovation Zone at the show.

China country focus

There will also be a 'Country Focus on China', which will include a dedicated zone and market presentations from leading experts, as well as a wide range of Chinese exhibitors.

This year's sessions will range from multi-functional ingredients to 3D printing for cosmetics and regulations through to specific market insights for Korea and China.

According to the show's organisers, a new segmented Innovation Zone will highlight the latest launches in active and functional ingredients.

Visitors will also be able to take their pick from innovation seminars, regulatory presentations and the highly popular formulation lab, introduced last year exclusively for R&D professionals and formulators attending the show.

If you haven't made it to in-cosmetics Asia this year, Cosmetics Design has got it covered for you! Tune in for updates from the show floor throughout the week.
