ICMAD will be announcing the winners of its Young Designer Award  for cosmetics packaging at a dinner event to be held in Newport Beach, California on February 4th.

The event will be highlighted by keynote speaker Chaz Dean, who in recent years has become one of the biggest TV personalities in the cosmetics world on the back of the success of his Wen hair care brand.

The hair care brand has become a best seller on account of exposure on the QVC retail channel, and is marketed on the strength of the fact that, unlike ordinary shampoo, it is a five-in-one treatment that does not produce lather.

2015 Young Designer Award winners

Following his keynote speech, Dean will introduce the 2015 Young Designer Award winners, who will be selected from more than 85 submissions by students from 12 different schools across the United States.

The ceremony will take place at the Island Hotel, and acts as an opportunity to platform the talents and creativity of some of the finest young designers the country has to offer.

The event also offers a networking opportunity, giving those individuals wishing to take their first steps in the cosmetics industry, the chance to meet decision-makers in the industry, often for the first time.

On top of that, it offers the opportunity for packaging professionals to scout out some of the best future talent and the chance of identifying a future industry star.

16th year for the awards

The competition was first held in 1999, and has since evolved to become one of the premier industry events to platform young and up and coming creative talent in the field of packaging design.

Last year the event was headed up by celebrity and designer Kathy Ireland and was the first time it was held in Southern California, following on from 15 years of the event being held in New York.

Registration for the event is currently open, with ticket prices at $130 per person. For more information about the event and to register for tickets, please click here .
