Ashland Care Specialties launches new conditioning polymers for hair care
Ashland Care Specialties has expanded its portfolio of conditioning and deposition polymers with the launch of two new cationic solutions: Conditioneze 22 and Conditioneze 37.

Ashland Care Specialties has expanded its portfolio of conditioning and deposition polymers with the launch of two new cationic solutions: Conditioneze 22 and Conditioneze 37.

Designed to better support hair care product makers with formulation-friendly conditioning solutions, the two polyquaternium polymers are said to provide hair with deep conditioning, luster, and soft, silky-feeling properties.

"With the addition of two polyquarterium conditioning technologies to the Conditioneze brand, we now offer formulators a larger spectrum of choices to develop higher-value products for today's discerning customers,” said David Popplewell, global marketing manager for hair care at Ashland Care Specialties.

"Adding to our portfolio will help hair-care manufacturers in their effort to meet current and future hair care market trends in virtually every marketplace worldwide," he added.

Conditioning benefits

The Conditioneze 37 cationic dispersion comprises homopolymers dispersed in mineral oil (M version) or propylene glycol dicaprylate/dicaprate (E version) according to Ashland, which says that this highly functional dispersion provides conditioners and hair masques with excellent conditioning benefits and acts as a rheology modifier.

Meanwhile, the Conditioneze 22 cationic solution is an aqueous copolymer of dimethyl ammonium chloride and acrylic acid. The company notes that it is recommended for use in shampoos and conditioners for damaged and treated hair, ethnic hair care and colorant products.

Ashland Care Specialties highlights that in line with the trend for shampoos that deliver conditioning benefits, products made with polyquaternium-22 allow formulators to deliver conditioning benefits in a range of surfactant systems. The company also underlines that demand for multi-functional products such as colorant with built-in conditioner technology is increasing as a greater number of consumers choose to color their hair.
