HBA opens up nominations for International Packaging Design Awards
The awards honor the year's most innovative packaging in several categories including cosmetics, fragrance, personal care, skin care and sustainability and are claimed to be the biggest and longest-running in the beauty industry and serve to platform the latest key industry trends, as well as the sharpest new designs on the market.
Two of its newest categories- sampling/travel size products and at-home devices and tools were added to the list in 2011 after organizers recognized the growing impetus that they now carry within the industry.
Originality, creativity and branding will stand out
According to HBA, any size company, including suppliers, design firms, marketing agencies and brand manufacturers can submit designs on the provision that the packaging concerned entered the retail market from June 1, 2012, to 30 June 2013.
Designs that have been refreshed, improved, or offer new features or technologies are also eligible to participate and entries will be judged by a ‘Committee of 100’ comprised of packaging experts, designers, industry suppliers and members of the media.
The organizers say submissions will be evaluated on originality, design concept, creative use of new materials, components and decorating processes, technical competency and effective brand messaging.
"Creative and innovative packaging still play a key role in influencing purchasing decisions amongst consumers. We are proud to support and platform our industry's outstanding packaging and engineering achievements," says Jill Birkett, Brand Director, Beauty & Wellness.
"With packaging design being a key influencer in purchasing decisions, innovations in decorating techniques, containers and compacts, and other packaging components have been on an upswing,” Birkett adds.
Finalists for the IPDA Awards are announced in early May and the Category Winners and the Grand Award will be revealed during the HBA Global Expo & Conference June 18 - 20, 2013 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
Each of the category winners will be displayed on the event floor, providing valuable industry exposure to individual packaging designs and innovations.
