Mintel to present on key packaging trends at Pack Expo

Market researcher will be discussing key packaging trends such as brand enhancement, environmental concerns and designing for seniors in a series of presentation at next month’s Pack Expo.

The event is taking place in Chicago, October 28 -31, and will be featuring some of the biggest names in the packaging industry, together with all the latest innovations and trends for consumer product packaging.

Mintel’s presentations are scheduled to take place over each of the four days between October 28 and 31, and will be given by its packaging experts Lynn Dornblaser, director of innovations & insight, together with Benjamin Punchard, global packaging analyst.

The four 30 minute presentations will take once a day over the three days in a dedicated theater inside the Mintel stand N-6214, which is a part of the brand zone at this year’s McCormick Place venue.

Enlightening brand owners

With the aim of being thought-provoking presentations that enlighten brand owners and packaging designers, the presentations are entitled : Convenience vs. Environment – the push-pull factor; Packaging for Seniors – An Untapped Opportunity; Reinvigorating Brands Through Packaging; and How Packaging Can Enhance Product Claims.

The convenience vs. environment presentation will take place each day at 10am will discuss how to best combine both of these crucial elements into the packaging design by answering the question about consumer needs with respect to both of these issues.

The packaging for seniors presentation will take place at 11:30am and will embrace the question of how to design for the world’s growing and increasingly important aging population, with a special focus on packaging that provides enhanced functionality for the elderly.

Reinvigorating brands through packaging

The presentation concerning the reinvigoration of brands will take place at 1:30 and will consider the best approach to providing the right packaging for an existing brand that can revitalize its image while engaging the consumer.

At 3:30pm the presentation on how packaging can enhance claims will shine a light on how packaging can convey product attributes in such a way that it can help build on its consumer success. This presentation will take place on the first three days of the event, but not October 31.
