New Jersey-based Q Research Solutions has unveiled a new fragrance evaluation system, that is said to enhance testing efficiency and reliability.

The qPOD evaluation system was launched at the recent World Perfumery Congress in Mashantucket, Connecticut, where the self-contained unit was premiered to the industry.

The company says it is aiming the equipment at fragrance manufacturers worldwide, claiming that the incorporation of the very latest technology means that it has the highest levels of accuracy and quality control.

Perhaps most importantly, the patented testing system has been designed to prevent cross-contamination of scents, which allows a constant stream of different scents to be evaluated without the challenge of having to neutralize the system to test different fragrance batches.

Longevity, benchmarketing, malodor...

Likewise, the strength and character of the fragrance can be consistently sustained during the testing process, making it easier to research specific areas such as longevity, claims substantiation, benchmarking, product formulation and malodor reduction.

“qPOD is a next-generation technology that has the potential to be a game-changer in the fragrance industry,” said Patti Nelson, founder and CEO of Q Research Solutions.

“Its self-contained design makes it a true equalizer and allows our clients to test products in an expanded number of locations without sacrificing protocols.”

Designed for a wide range of testing

The company claims that its comprehensive development into the new system has been validated by consumer research, professional fragrance evaluators , creative perfumers and sensory scientists.

The system has also been designed so it can be used in any type of room, which the company says makes for a wider scope for testing, as well as making the system more accessible.

Ultimately the design targets an accelerated product development cycle, while shortening the speed to market – providing vital leverage in the fast-paced and ultra-competitive fragrance category.
