Industry gears up for ‘Oscars’ of the fragrance world...
Also referred to as the ‘Oscars of the fragrance industry’ the event brings together celebrities from the stage, screen and music world with 800 major industry leaders who will be gearing up to compete in award categories like Fragrance of the Year, Best Packaging of the Year and Best Media Campaign of the Year.
“The FiFi Awards is all about honoring and highlighting fragrance creation through all its many facets. Showing off, if you will, the most marvelous creativity, the abundance of talent, the most beautiful fragrances in the world,” says a Foundation representative.
Hightlights
This year the board of directors say the ‘Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award’ will go to Justin Bieber,for promoting the world of fragrance.
“BIEBER has accomplished all the criteria and more since launching his first fragrance, Someday. As an artistic expression, he has created a beautiful prestige fragrance while skillfully harnessing his talent as a great communicator to get the message out to his fans in his own voice,” said the foundation.
The award was won by Halle Berry at last year's event.
Other highlights of the evening, is the induction of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel into the 2012 FiFi Hall of Fame. The award is presented to an individual who has brought extraordinary ingenuity, creativity, dedication and inner resources to bear, not only to their company’s success but to the fragrance industry as a whole.
“We are very pleased that The Fragrance Foundation is recognizing Coco Chanel for her lasting impact and ongoing influence over the world of fragrance, and we thank the Board of Directors of The Fragrance Foundation for this significant recognition,” says Christine Dagousset, U.S. executive vice president, Fragrance & Beauty.
Previous winners
Winners of last year’s event included Bombshell by Balenciaga Paris, Victoria’s Secret, Halle by Halle Berry, My Life by Mary J Blige, for fragrance of the year women’s awards, with Gucci Guilty winning this as well as a fragrance superstar of the year award.
In the men’s fragrance of the year awards, winners included Republic of Men Essence EDT by Banana Republic, Hervé Léger Homme, Tom ford Azure Lime and Bleu de chanel, and Jean Paul Gaultier taking home the fragrance hall of fame award.
The consumer’s choice award winners were Bath & Body Works Signature Collection for Men Twilight Woods and Bombshell – Victoria’s Secret for the women’s category.
