The New York-based Fragrance Foundation is launching an educational course about the latest and most influential trends in the fragrance market targeting both industry professionals and consumers.

The Top Notes educational program will be a series of educational courses and resources developed for individuals that want to keep on top of the ever-changing trends in this fast-paced category – an essential tool for professionals who want to make informed business decisions.

The fact that the live courses are online also targets the growing demand for training solutions that can be fitted around busy professional work schedules, allowing the courses to be tailored to specific requirements without the need to physically travel to the event.

For consumers and industry professionals alike

“Both industry insiders and consumers who have a passion for fragrance will be able to keep their fingers on the pulse, tap into trends, scent styles, new notes and track top sellers with the TopNotes course,” said Mary Ellen Lapsansky, vice president of the Fragrance Foundation.

“We have collaborated with the best minds in the business to deliver up to the minute and comprehensive insights,” Lapsansky added.

The organizers say that the new courses have been developed to build on the knowledge gained through the Certification Program for Fragrance Sales, which is claimed to be the industry standard for fragrance education.

First course : Olfactive Trends

The first course is entitled Olfactive Trends 2011 to 2012, and will include the following topics:

  • Historical Reference & Current State of the Fragrance Industry.
  • Why do olfactive preferences change among consumers?
  • Historical references & key fragrance launches of the past.
  • Women’s and Men’s Olfactive Preferences.
  • Top 20 Fragrances, USA and Global, as reported by Givaudan iPerfumer.
  • Future Olfactive Forecasts.
  • Current Consumer Insights
  • Olfactively-significant recent fragrance launches

The courses will also include an optional assessment to test the participants understanding and knowledge retention for each course completed.

While registration will be $50.00 per person, the organizers say that the contents for each course will be updated every 12 to 18 months, or as and when new trends emerge. For more information, contact the Fragrance Foundation directly.
