An online training course targeting micro- and nano-encapsulation is being launched to help guide formulators and researchers through this complex area.

Organized by the Centre for Professional Advancement (CfPA), the 90 minute course aims to provide an overview as well as a discussion opportunity for the many different types of encapsulation technique and characteristics.

The course targets professionals in the cosmetics and personal care industry, where encapsulation has widely been used to provide delivery vehicles for active ingredients used in anti-aging skin care products and sunscreens.

Targeting cosmetics professionals

Likewise it targets other professionals in the consumer products area as well as the chemical, food, agricultural and pharmaceutical industries.

The accredited online course has been designed to provide information about proven techniques, as well as results and applications in various industries where encapsulation techniques have had a significant impact.

The discussions will revolve around identifying key parameters that are required to select the right encapsulation techniques and formulations specific to a variety of different applications.

Three separate modules and a Q&A

The course has three modules covering an introduction to encapsulation – module 1, the different encapsulation processes – module two and formulations and applications – module 3, followed by a questions and answers session.

Module 1 will focus on the history of encapsulation, definitions and terminology and general encapsulations characteristics, while module 2 will focus on physical microencapsulation, chemical microencapsulation and nanoencapsulation, while module 3 will focus on formulations, characterizations and applications.
