BASF announces changes to its supervisory board

Chemicals company BASF has announced it is to make a number of changes to its executive board after its annual meeting in May next year.

Dr. Hans-Ulrich Engel will become chief financial officer located in the US and will be responsible for finance, regional functions and business development. Dr. Harald Schwager will succeed Engel as head of oil and gas, Europe, construction chemicals, and global procurement and logistics.

Effective at the same time, Margret Suckale and Michael Heinz will be newly named to the board of executive directors of BASF SE.

Dr. Kurt Bock will succeed Dr. Jürgen Hambrecht as chairman of the board of executive directors. Hambrecht and Dr. John Feldmann, a member of the board, are retiring at the end of the Annual Meeting in 2011.

The new responsibilities on BASF’s board will take effect at the end of the annual meeting on May 6, 2011.
