New York-based JP Packaging has developed a means of providing highly accurate dosing and improved seal integrity for skin care product samples and unit does application multi-packs.

The company says it has been working in conjunction with its customers in the cosmetics and personal care industry on ways to improve these key areas.

Because sample packaging is small, dosing and seal integrity are two areas that have presented significant challenges, with weak seals and inconsistent dosing levels proving to be two of most difficult challenges to overcome.

“We have been working with a number of key customers within the industry over a period of time to help combat these problems and give them better quality packaging,” John Vandercliff, president of JP Packaging, told CosmeticsDesign.com USA.

“We have achieved this through constantly improving our production techniques with the adoption of technologically advanced sealing and dosing machinery,” he added.

Accuracy and seal integrity

Vandercliff added his belief that this has given the company a unique positioning on the market, offering accuracy and seal integrity that cannot be matched by the competition.

Underlining this, the company offers micro-dosing levels as small as 0.13 grams, reflecting the industry need for very small samples of high-end cosmetic products, particularly in the skin care category, where complex formulations make this prospect all the more challenging.

“Skin care product formulations present a wide range of challenges,” Vandercliff said. “Viscosities may range from thin, watery solutions to thick, viscous formulations. Individual ingredients—notably oils or micro inclusions within skin care formulations, often present unique filling and sealing challenges for assuring package/product integrity.”
