Contract manufacturer Maesa Group will be developing a personal care range for shoe and accessories retailer PaylessShoe Source.

The retailer, owned by Collective Brands and headquartered in Kansas, has recently extended its offering from shoes to accessories, and from September it will be proposing beauty products to its consumers.

Expanding product offering

During 2009, scarves, belts, gloves and other accessories were added to the PaylessShoe Source product list and according to the company were a hit with consumers.

“Our shoppers have responded very positively to our initiatives to go beyond footwear and democratize fashion and design in accessories as well, and this is one step further to bring consumers beauty products,” said LuAnn Via, CEO of Payless.

Products will include body care products such as lotions, creams and shower gels, as well as color cosmetics and fragrances and will be designed and developed by Maesa Group as part of a multi-year agreement.

The company plans to launch two brands, Unforgettable Moments and Zoe & Zac, which will be exclusive to Payless ShoeSource.

“Our new beauty line will feature the latest ideas, colors, shimmers, scents and formulas in the beauty and body care category and give our customers additional items to complete their personal sense of style, as well as offer great gifting options” added Via.

The company is known for its affordable products and the beauty products will be retailed from $2.99 an item.

Maesa expands business in US

This is not the first time Maesa Group has worked with brands debuting in the personal care sector for the first time.

Earlier this year it signed a deal with Old Navy, part of the GAP clothing retail chain, to help it launch a range of personal care products bearing the brand name throughout the United States.

In January, the cosmetics and fragrance line for Urban Outfitters' brand Kimishi Blue that Maesa helped to develop was launched.
