The Liposome Herbasec range uses liposomes as a delivery vehicle. Liposomes serve as carriers to the skin, and, according to Cosmetochem, the unsaturated phospholipids that are used in the extracts have been shown to be excellent penetration enhancers.
The company says that phospholipids and lecithin are the safest and mildest substances to allow deeper penetration of actives into the skin, avoiding the use of solvents.
In addition to being solvent-free, the plant-derived extracts are manufactured from non-GMO raw materials from renewable resources, according to the company, and also conform to BDIH criteria for natural cosmetics.
The range comprises 5 extracts with different properties that make them suitable for distinct applications, although the company says the extracts are particularly suitable for use in skin care.
The white tea and green tea extracts have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and act as circulatory stimulants. Best suited for skin care products aimed at mature, sensitive or blemished skin, the extracts can also be used in deodorant, wipes and cleansers.
Also aimed at mature, sensitive or blemished skin is the aloe vera extract, which has soothing emollient and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as acting as a UV protectant.
Suitable for use in skin care, skin tonics and cleansers, the white hibiscus extract can also be used in hair care and bath and shower products. The hibiscus extract has astringent, cleansing and softening properties, according to Cosmetochem.
Lastly, guarana extract is targeted at formulators producing body firming and anti-cellulite products due to its diuretic, astringent and anti-cellulite properties. Additionally, the extract stimulates hair follicles, the company claims, and is therefore also targeted for use in hair care products.
Portfolio includes botanical extracts in liquid form
Cosmetochem’s portfolio also includes extracts in liquid form; Herbasol a range of extracts from Swiss wine grape, and Herbamilk, a range of natural plant milks.
The company will be presenting Liposome Herbasec at the upcoming in-cosmetics show in Paris, 13-15th April.
