French cosmetics ingredients company Silab has launched a new range of organic actives made from natural raw materials as part of a company focus on this booming market area.

In all, the company is launching nine organic ingredients, each of which offers multi-functional benefits to the skin for a range of anti-ageing and protective products.

Use of raw materials for multi-functional purpose

Silab was established in 1984 and has since then been developing and manufacturing natural biological active substances for big players in the global cosmetics industry. This recent addition of nine new actives to the company portfolio is reflective of the booming market for organic cosmetics.

Osilift Bio, a sugar product designed for ‘optimal and immediate lifting effect’ is made from oats. With a very high molecular weight of complex sugars, which adhere to the skin’s surface, it is claimed to have an immediate lifting effect on the skin. The company said that there is a major benefit in manufacturing this sugar product naturally, since it ensures that the final ingredient is almost colourless and not sticky or shiny.

The most notable aspect of the new launches however, is the way in which each of the ingredients has multi-functionality and can be applied in a number of different products to achieve varying effects on the skin. Osilift can be incorporated into all tensor and remodelling care products.

Other ingredients in the range are sourced from plants such as sweet white lupin, which forms the base of a restructuring agent called Structurine Bio and this can be used in all repairing, regenerating and hydrating care products.

Sensaline Bio is created from linseed oil as an anti-irritating ingredient for sensitive skin. Linseed is known for its emollient and anti-inflammatory properties. Coheliss Bio is made from rye seed and is recommended for skin lifting and anti-age care.

Reaching out to new markets in difficult economic times

By creating a new organic line with multi-functionality, Silab has added adaptability and flexibility to their products and ultimately widened the potential usage of their new line.

For example, the p-Refinyl ingredient, a long lasting biological treatment for finer pores is aimed at both Caucasian and Asian skin, allowing the company to target a growing geographical market.
