Bosch Packaging Technology has developed new cartoning machine, which it claims to be faster, more adaptable and with improved security features than its previous CUT 120 model.

The machine can be used in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industry for single or multiple package operations.

Claiming to achieve 150 folds per minute, this new model has been designed to be quicker, with the screw feeder and pick-and-place feeding achieving an output of 450 packages per minute.

Faster and more efficient output

“We have significantly upgraded the proven technology of the Cut 120. The current Cut 150 is much quicker, more flexible and offers enormous production security, which is very important”, says Uwe Stroinski, product manager at Bosch.

The new modern servo-design is said to have simplified format changeover, making for a more dynamic and adaptable machine. One cut utilizes four different folding box modules.

In addition, Bosch says that the absence of drive chains is a new development for the company. With no switching station for chains or drive belt disks, it is claimed that lubrication is unnecessary, reducing maintenance of the machine. It is believed that this offers a major advantage over other commercially available machines.

Improved user security

Bosch has also made efforts to increase the security of the carton machine. The new model features a ‘track and trace’ system for mass serialization with a 2D matrix code.

This 2D code clarifies identification and traceability for the folding box and its contents. It is hoped that the new addition of this marking technology protects against counterfeiting and makes the machine more secure for the user.

The Cut 150 was one of many new improved models to be launched earlier this week at Achema 2009 in Frankfurt.
