The company says that creating this new niche will be building on the new category it created back in 2002 for the launch of its XanGo Juice.
The successful launch of the drink helped bring about awareness of the internal benefits of mangosteen to the global marke, likewise seeing the product distributed in 23 countries worldwide.
Proprietary BioActive X3 Complex
The Glimpse skin care range is based around the proprietary formulation BioActive X3 Complex, which delivers exclusive ingredients from the mangosteen that are said to result in a clean, high-performing skin nutrition system
The new line includes two basic systems – one targeting normal to dry skin, the other targeting normal to combination skin. These systems are each made up of a cleanser, toner, serum and moisturizer and are expected to retail for around $200.
Mangosteen fruit comes from the tropical evergreen tree of the same name, and is renowned for its high antioxidant content, which makes it nutrient rich and likewise highly effective as an active ingredient for skin care products.
Based on biofermentation proces
The BioActive complex incorporated into the skin care line’s formulation is based on biofermentation technology from Japan, which combines the xanthones and phytonutrients from the managosteen.
According to in vitro clinical studies carried out in Japan, the active properties of the formulation are said to contain 30 times more antioxidant potency than green tea, which in turn helps to calm inflammation, promote natural collagen production and protect the skin against the oxidizing effects of free radicals.
As well as being highly beneficial to the skin, the product is also being marketed on the strength of its purity and eco-friendly values.
Pure and eco-friendly
“We are conscious both of the fact that you are what you absorb and what we put into the environment eventually returns to our bloodstream,” said XanGo senior vice president Beverly Hollister.
“XanGo has used clean ingredients in Glimpse that to not mutate or harm any other organisms downstream, protecting the environment we all live in.”
The product line will be made available in the US and Canada from November 7 through a network of independent distributors and will likewise be available from the company’s website.
Following on from the North American launch, the company is planning to expand distribution worldwide during the first half of 2009.
