Croda has released a new amino-acid complex that taps into the
growing popularity of cashmere along with a guide to its other
protein-based ingredients.

Shoppers are snapping up cashmere sweaters and scarves at a faster rate than ever drawn in by the soft feel, warmth and luxury image of the material. Cashmerein cosmetics Cosmetic manufacturers are catching on to the trend and are looking to harness the softness of the keratin fibers in cashmere wool and play on the feeling of luxury evoked by the material. L'Oreal, Elizabeth Arden and Avon have all developed make-up products that trade on the cashmere connection. Chemical specialist Croda is now targeting these finished product manufacturers with Crotein Cashmere - the latest ingredient to join its protein polymer range. Suitable for use in leave-on and rinse-off products in skin, hair and nail care, the functional ingredient is an amino acid complex produced by the careful hydrolysis of the keratin fibers in cashmere. Protein biopolymer guide Alongside the ingredient, Croda has launched a chart to help manufacturers choose the best protein biopolymer for their needs. Entitled 'Natures performers…Protein Biopolymers, Amino Acids and Functionalized Proteins,' the guide gives key information about its protein products allowing buyers to navigate their way through the company's offerings. Protein polymers have numerous functions in personal care products helping to condition, repair and strengthen hair as well as smooth and tighten the skin. In addition to moisturizing the skin and hair they have many secondary benefits including viscosity, adhesion and low irritancy.
