Boots is joining a growing number of major retailers with the
launch in October of its first ever private label range of organic
cosmetics.

The supermarket giant Tesco launched its own private label organic range in February and now it is the turn of Boots to make its first foray into the segment. "Boots market entry does however highlight the fast pace of change in the natural and organic industry," said Tina Gill from Organic Monitor. "Within a year, all leading British retailers have launched these products under private labels." She said Boots is not perceived as a green retailer. Consequently, its development of a private label organic range adds to mounting evidence that the organic trend is deep rooted. The recent proliferation of retailers developing private label organic ranges was described this week in a Euromonitor article as a sign that organic cosmetics are here to stay. Released under the name Botanics Organic, the range will contain body care products with between 90 and 100 per cent organic ingredients.
