Two new paper-based tetrahedral packaging products for the
convenience market are designed to dispense juices, or sauces and
condiments.

Milliken & Company said its Nu-Twist and M-Pak Plus can also help with portion control and provides barriers against different products, including a range of cosmetic and toiletries products aimed at the convenience market segment. The Nu-Twist package has a pull-tab opening for a straw to dispense drinks, but has also been designed as a dispenser, to suit a range of personal care products. It can dispense about four ounces of liquid. "Designed for dispensing juice, Nu-Twist presents a fun-shaped package that helps drive juice consumption through enjoyment and ensures portion control for a healthy lifestyle," the company enthused. M-Pak Plus is designed for non-food products such as lotions, shampoos, and other personal care products. Likewise it also contains a range of other liquids, providing barrier properties for sauces and condiments, salad dressings and oil based products. M-Pak Plus is available in for 1/3 ounce to 4 ounces portions. The two package options provide a portion controlled serving of products that work well with today's "on-the-go" lifestyles, the company claimed. Both Nu-Twist and M-Pak Plus minimise waste because the package shape is the most efficient use of material per unit of volume and allows for complete dispensing of the product, the company claimed. Milliken can coat the packages with polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable packaging material.
