Conference uncovers advantages of nanomaterials
advantages and risks of nanomaterials in the pharmaceutical and
cosmetics industry - focusing on different issues that may cause
concern in these markets.
Held at the Institute of Technology in Chartres, France, the conference will firstly explain to attendees a basic overview of what the term 'nanomaterials' means, before delving deeper into how it can help, and hinder both industries. Organised by the "Industrial Engineering and Maintenance" department in Chartres Institute of Technology, the Technology Network in Chartres and The Cosmetic valley, the conference will be a way for industry insiders to gain knowledge and awareness of how to harness the growing phenomenon that is nanotechnology, whilst applying it to further benefit their own businesses and products. Four lectures have been planned over the course of one day, in French with English translation available, with philosopher Jean-Pierre Dupuy stating, "The true responsibility of scientists is to make people understand science and to accept debates in real time". The conference will go full circle, allowing participants to debate the pros and cons of nanoparticles, when taking part in lectures such as 'Identification of the necessary stages leading to nano materials'. With zinc oxide nanoparticles long since playing a large role in cosmetic applications as well as titanium or zirconium oxide nanoparticles being used to filter UV rays and improve nail polish resistance, the conference is a gateway into understanding their long-term impact on the health of the consumer.
