Course tackles latest issues in dermato-cosmetic science
course to highlight the latest advances in dermato-cosmetic
sciences. It will deal with issues related to sensitive skin,
allergies and anti-ageing treatments as well as EU legislations
relating to these areas.
This international course, which has been running since 1992, offers an intensive training programme designed for those industry players with profressional qualifications and experience relating to the dermato-cosmetic field.
The course will provide up-to-date information regarding the preparation and production of products that are both chemically and toxically well defined, that respect the skin as a living and sensitive organ.
In recent years the skin care segment has been given a major boom due to increased consumer interest in products that address key skin issues, including anti-ageing treatments, sunscreens and products formulated for sensitive skins.
For professionals working behind the development of such products this has led to a huge expanions in the research and development of skin care products and a big rise in the number of products available on the market.
Likewise the EU has been busy regulating the sector, often leaving professionals with a mountain of paperwork to get through and constant regulatory changes to keep abreast of.
Bearing this in mind, the course should have maximum appeal to cosmetic form specialists, dermatologists working within the pharmaceuticals industry, as well as research and development professionals, scientists and trainers involved in the dermato-cosmetics sector.
Running from September 10 - 15, the course will look at five core areas - one each day. Each of the day long seminar will address skin and hair care, barrier function of the skin, sun skin and ageing, legislative aspects of the dermato-cosmetics, safety of dermato -cosmetic products and objective evaluation of the efficacy of cosmetics.
For each of the five days the seminars will be begin at 8:45am and finish at 5:30pm, with each seminar lasting between 45 minutes and one hour. The cost of the week-long course is €1,680 and reservations can be made through the University Toxicology department before Augues 31.

Rogiers from Vrije University who will speak about skin types and daily care as well as SCCP guidance on cosmetic testing, Dr. C Gummer from Procter & Gamble who will talk about hair care today, Prof N. Schürer who will discuss the barrier function of the skin and Prof A Goossens from KU Leuven who will discuss side affects of cosmetics.
